Charlie Murphy

Born in rural Adelaide, Charlie learned to read through music and has played piano since the age of five. She moved to Sydney in 2011, where her first job was with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. In this interview, Charlie reflects on becoming the first openly transgender woman elected to the Mardi Gras Board, alongside her music, Pride in Protest, activism, and queer politics. The interview closes with a poignant piano performance on the baby grand in her Sydney apartment.
