Colette Parr (1947-)

Colette Parr worked in Family Planning in the 1970s and campaigned for women's health and the empowerment of young women. In this interview, Colette recalls her political and social life of the 1960s through to the 1980s, including the bars, hotels and venues that were central to lesbian social life in Sydney. Colette was also a member of the Gay Film Fund Group, which was established to showcase gay and lesbian life. In the late 1970s, Colette set up and ran the Lazy Roo Cafe in Kings Street, Newtown, which became a venue for women's bands, including Furious Chicken and Stray Dags.
