LGBT Wikipedia Editathon

  • Harold Park Community Hall, Lawn Library Tram Sheds 1 Dalgal Way Forest Lodge, NSW, 2037 Australia (map)

In conjunction with the City of Sydney, Pride History Group is facilitating a LGBT Wikipeadia Editathon to improve coverage of LGBT history wiki pages.

——-

The free online encyclopedia Wikipedia, is the 6th most visited site on the internet. The content is created and edited by volunteers all over the world.

But it has long been acknowledged that the there is a lack of diversity among contributors. Less than 10% of editors identify as female and 85% are university educated.

The session will be led by experienced Wikipedian Kathryn Barwick and the Pride History Group. With their help, participants will focus on improving LGBTIQ articles on Wikipedia.

City historian Dr Lisa Murray will also be on hand to show you how to use the city archives and general referencing.

Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary.
