Johan Micheelsen (1985-)
In the 1950s and 1960s, LGBTQIA+ Australians enjoyed visiting Scandinavian countries such as Denmark, which they regarded as more open minded than their own.
Decades later, Johan Micheelsen migrated from Denmark to Australia. It was 2012 and he fell in love with Sydney, particularly Potts Point, where he lived. 'I remember how colourful that part of the city was. Copenhagen is a progressive city but you don’t show gayness [there] in the same way.'
